A great thing (or not so great thing depending on the season) about San Francisco is that a lot of people want to visit. According to Forbes, over 17 million people visited San Francisco’s Golden Gate National Recreation Areain 2009 alone. With numbers that big, some of those visitors had to be famous. Famous people who have well-known television shows on Food Network or Travel Channel. And it is always exciting (for us) to see where said famous people decided to go when they only have 30-60 minutes to give their perspective on San Francisco.
So do we want to visit a respective restaurant/bar/park/dog bakery just because we have seen it on TV? You can bet your cat’s pajamas the answer is no if it has been on Bizarre Foods. But if we are debating between two fine specimens and our TV buddy Adam Richman has given one his seal of approval, we will likely give that establishment our business for the night.
Sometimes we are even so ahead of the curve/TV season, that we have already been to an establishment by the time our friends who actually get paid for that sort of thing stop by the same place. (Aside: if any producers need any help in that area, Jenna and I are happy to offer our services.) But to help us out, there are even apps that list which spots a given travel/reviews show has sampled.
Some of the gems we have seen in real-life and on tv even go beyond San Francisco through our travels to Las Vegas, New York, Boston, Seattle and more, so stay tuned to see which ones were the studs and which ones were the duds. And let us know which hot spots you have seen on tv and tested in real life!
