When I decided to travel overseas over the break I thought I had covered all bases. Even in the rush I had made sure to upgrade to an international plan. I was still euphoric from my European adventure when I checked my AT&T statement online only to discover that my bill was more than $400. (That is one way to bring you back down to Earth.)
Since I have been working on being a better adult, I decided I needed to take some action. So, I did the grown up thing and I contacted AT&T to see how I could possibly do this much damage with a 5-day trip to Europe.
What I learned is that I am directionally challenged, and I used WAY more data than I ever imagined. The GPS function uses a good amount of data, so if you are like me and require directions to get around the corner go ahead and upgrade to the largest data plan possible.
I also learned about the power of just asking. Lucky for me, AT&T took pity on my poor confused soul and upgraded my data plan and backdated it for the trip. In the end it cut my bill almost in half. Crisis averted!
