As you may have seen from this week’s post about California burritos, you know we appreciate the addition of bacon to just about anything. With that in mind, it may or may not surprise you that this also applies to beverages (although not beer). As we are included to enjoy a bloody Mary every now and again, and since bloody Marys count as a breakfast food, including bacon in the mix seems to make a lot of sense.

Enter the bloody Mary at Thieves Tavern, or to be more accurate, the BLT bloody Mary, which includes bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and even cream cheese. Although they were out of lettuce when we went, so it was more like the BT bloody Mary; no one ever misses lettuce though, so it worked out for the best. The very delicious, thick-cut bacon takes this bloody Mary to the next level of greatness, but what I may have liked even more than the bacon itself, is that the bartender was very amenable to my request to make it medium spicy. Spiciness is very subjective, so it is nice when someone has a similar scale and accommodates your request (Thai restaurants, take note).
The BLT bloody Mary – when you would rather drink breakfast. But don’t want a smoothie.
