Last night I had the opportunity to attend the preview party for La Cocina’s upcoming Street Food Festival. Among all the tasty food and drinks was Sweets Collection, which specializes in gelatin desserts — including jello shots.
Jello shots may conjure up thoughts of times when drinking spiked punch out of trash cans sounded like a good idea. They just aren’t something you have once you are an adult (except in Vegas).
But Sweets Collection is turning a one-time kitschy college party favor into edible art. Using an injection technique that is common in Mexico, owner and artist, Rosa Rodriguez, creates intricate, three-dimensional designs that possess a life like quality to them.
The taste is also a bit more refined than the jello shots you might be used too. Bill Cosby may be one cool cat, and Jell-O always had that nifty jingle, but shots made with it just wind up tasting so sweet.
Rodriguez makes her shots with fresh fruits, pure sugar cane, unflavored gelatin and premium liquors (no Popov here). The result is a sophisticated shot that is almost too pretty to eat/drink!

I am interested and wondering how does it taste like or is it good to chiseler it with wines and rums and gins. This is like preserving but in more creative and attractive style. Keep up the good work.
It tasted really good! She makes it with a variety of liquors, and you can do the same. It is definitely a fun party treat!
